Technologies for utilization of water energy



Water head plants (WHP) use kinetic energy of water , on account of the superficially made water fall. This is a highly extensive hydro technology , which does not include use of all nature characteristics of water to the full value.

Hydro kinetic plants (HKP) transform the kinetic energy , that flowing water contains, into electric energy through the use of hydraulic turbines and electric generators. The energy potential of the flow is a function of the amount of water and the height of the fall.

With the temporary implosive technologies efficiency of hydro kinetic (HKP) plants can become higher than the efficiency of WPP.

The hydro energy potential of a river stream does not depend on the number and storage of dams on it , but on the debit and the out of level of the river. Only operating water can rotate the turbines of a water power plant. Damming up and stopping of water and the following letting her out towards the turbines in superficial derivations, pipes and other equipment can be avoided. That will be done with transformers of kinetic energy of the free water flow. (for example totally plunged turbines), that are mounted in the rivers themselves. That has at least two positive effects: First it is significantly cheaper and secondly it is quite environmentally friendly.


An essential Principal difference between the WPP and hydro kinetic plants is that, turbines in WPP use JUST ONCE the coming in water with a high energy thickness, as a result of the superficially created water head , and the proposed technologies for hydro kinetic plants use MANY TIMES water flowing without any head with naturally low energy thickness.

In comparison with water power stations , hydro kinetic plants have lower loadings and it is impossible for them to appear hydraulic strikes and going away of the turbines when the load drops down sharply , that is inevitable for the head turbines in their regime of average. The latter makes the constructors to size them in terms of strength for these inevitable loadings, that are repeatedly higher than the nominal loadings, that makes them be more expensive and therefore follows the higher start investment for classical WPP . And the average situations for WPP have no analogy with the hydro kinetic installations , because the river flow is with a much lower energy thickness , than the head flow. As a whole that make the hydro kinetic plants less risky, and much more reliable.

Hydro kinetic energy installation and plants are mounted directly in rivers and channels, including anchored on them pontoons. They do not change the river beds and do not reduce the water levels. So that they do not dry the agricultural land, do not affect the natural water flow, and do not harm river and river by eco systems. These equipment can be quickly mounted , and its management and monitoring can be automatically and/or from a distance implemented.

The kinetic power stations, after being plunged and their orienting under water , immediately start to generate their designed power. The turbine rotors rotate with tenfold or hundredfold lower turnovers than these of the ships screw , that makes them harmless for the underground flora and fauna.
